John Wilton Barnes
January 2, 1945 ~ October 6, 2017 (age 72) 72 Years OldMr. John Wilton Barnes of Red Springs passed away Friday, October 6, 2017 in Southeastern Hospice House at the age of 72.
Mr. Barnes was born in Robeson County on January 2, 1945 to the late Henry Wilbur Barnes and Juanita Smith Barnes. After retiring from Campbell Soup, he was the owner and operator of Barnes Lawn Mower Repair in Red Springs. A loving family man, Wilton enjoyed going to the beach and fishing. He was preceded in death by, his brother, Henry Wilbur Barnes, Jr. and Willie Huggins. Mr. Barnes was a member of Westside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Lee Barnes; his daughters, Wilma Blouin (Bobby), Wendy Wong (KiKi); his grandchildren, Ashley Black (Mitch), Heather Van Guilder (Will), Kierra Wong, Caden Wong; eight great grandchildren; his brothers, Tommie Barnes, Jammie Huggins, Erastus Huggins (Peggy), Randal Huggins; his sisters, Ethel Rose Barnes, Lois Lee Jacobs, Carolyn Sessoms (Gene), Doris Lynn Dick (Kevin), Kathy Evans (Steve); and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 8, 2017 between the hours of 2pm and 3pm at Westside Baptist Church in Red Springs.
Funeral services will begin at 3pm following the visitation. Burial will be in the Alloway Cemetery.
