My heart is breaking for the family. I work at Arbor Ridge at Stanleyville I'm the driver I would take Johnny to his doctor's appointments. We had such a good time talking we will talk about planes and cars things that we love. I was so saddened when I heard he was not doing well and that he had to move out. I will miss him but I always have a piece of him in my heart. My prayers are with you all for your strength if you need to cry cry don't hold it in. Love Nancy

Sherry, we are so sorry to learn of your daddy's passing, and we are praying for strength for you today during the visitation and funeral. Daniel called to tell us the news, because he knew that we would want to know. We're so glad that you were able to move your daddy to Winston so that you could be closer to him in the last months of his life. Please know that we lift you up in our hearts as you and your sweet family say a final goodbye to your daddy.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Johnny. He and Daddy had such a fun filled long time friendship. I so enjoyed his many visits to see Mama and Daddy, and also the visits to the airport at Phil's. Those men had such fun discussing flying, war stories, politics and religion. To you all, I send my love and prayers during this time.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr Cates. John was much older than I and never knew him well, but I did know the family. A fine family. I know he will be missed. And to Cynthia, who is my friend, my words cannot express the feeling of loss you must feel. I’m so sorry. Praying for you and your family.

I’m so very sad to hear of Mr. Cates’ passing. Daddy thought the world of him and Mildred both. It’s been about 3 years since I saw him at the Essey’s airfield and so enjoyed listening to him and Daddy tell their flying stories. I pray that God will bring peace to his family. Hugs and prayers.
