Dateline: Red Springs

Mrs. Mary Helen Moody Moore was born April 10, 1961 in Robeson County to the late Herman and Cora Moody. She was educated in Hoke County School Systems where she displayed academic excellence and was avid in track and field. She departed into peaceful rest on Tuesday, March 17, 2020. Mary was preceded in death by her adoptive mother Addie Rivers and two brothers, Raymond and Rodney.

On May 18, 1985 she was joined into holy matrimony with the love of her life and her best friend, Elder Levern Moore who has always been with her through sickness and health.

In 1986 she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Townsend Chapel Bible Church of God in Buie, NC where she was ordained an Elder. Mary held various positions in the church with an eager to please God, while serving him wholeheartedly. She was Church Secretary, Youth Sunday School Teacher, Vice President of the Kids Choir, Vice President of the Young Adult Choir and a devoted Usher.

Some of the things that she truly enjoyed doing were: singing gospel music, playing the tambourine, going to the spa, praying fervently unto the Lord. Spending quality time with family, cooking delicious meals and relaxing her mind by playing ‟Candy Crush.”

Mary is survived by her husband, Elder Levern Moore; three brothers; Robert Moody, John Roper and Herman Moody, Jr. all of Raeford, NC; four sisters, Joann Howard of Hope Mills, NC, Janet Elliot of South Carolina, Mary Jane McRay (John) and Angel Elliott all of Raeford, NC. She is also survived by god- children; Ashley Inman, Latoya Campbell, Richard Whittington, James McPhatter, Jr. and Shania Leach; several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Mary had a genuine kindness that radiated from her being and a smile that would brighten anyone’s day. God saw that she was getting weary and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around her and whispered, “Come with me.” A golden heart stopped beating and a beautiful soul was put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best!

Visitation will be 6:00-7:00 Friday, March 20, 2020 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 220 East 4th Ave. Red Springs, NC 28377.
