COLUMBIA -- Mildred Jane White departed this world on Friday, August 14, 2020 at the age of 81 years, with her Family by her side.

Mildred was born February 3, 1939 to the late Johnnie Roscoe and Queen Ester McAllister in Rex, North Carolina. She was the fifth child and oldest daughter of ten siblings. She received her education in the Robeson County school system and moved to New York City upon graduation. Mildred was brought up in Mt. Zion UME Church in Maxton, North Carolina, where she will be laid to rest.

She was married to her true love, the late Robert White Sr., for 44 years.

Many called her a devoted Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Christian. She was a kind, loving and caring person, always helping anyone in need; never exchanging words. She had a forgiving heart and never held any grudges. She always wanted to bring out the best in anyone who came into her life.

Mildred was a true Matriarch and the backbone of her Family. Her hobbies were knitting and photography, and her favorite color was Purple. She loved to dance, and she enjoyed listening to Motown music. But nothing pleased her more than cooking up a good old fashion Southern Meal; and would feed all that came.

Until her health declined, she was employed at Kings Park Hospital in Long Island, New York. She worked in the Food Service Department for over 15 years. Upon her retirement, she then moved to Fort Mill, South Carolina so that she could be closer to her Family. Mildred lived out the rest of her days traveling, shopping, cooking, enjoying her family; and making certain that none of her Family needed or wanted for anything.

Our Family will sorely miss you Mom.

Mildred is preceded in death by her Husband, Robert White, Sr.; Parents, Roscoe and Queen Ester McAllister; her Father and Mother-In-Law; One Daughter, Barbara Jean White; Four Brothers, Odell, Franklin, Allen and John McAllister, and one Sister, Bertha Mae Cargo.

She was survived by her three Sons, Robert White Jr. (Menette) of Matthews, NC, Anthony Vernon White (Rechetta) of Columbia, SC and John Russell White of Columbia SC; Two Brothers, Sylvester McCallister (Louise), of Red Springs, NC and Nathaniel McCallister (Viola) of Fayetteville, NC; Three Sisters, Queen Snow McCallister (Therman), of Lumber Bridge, NC, Pauline Leach, of Fayetteville, NC, and Willie Pearl Galbert of Red Springs, NC; Eight Grandchildren, Eight Great Grandchildren and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Family and Friends.

Mildred’s Homegoing Service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel in Red Springs, NC with the Reverend Jeff Person Officiating, and Minister Queen Snow McAllister, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Mr. Zion UME Church Cemetery in Maxton, NC. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the Funeral Service.

Services for the Family are entrusted to Crumpler Funeral Home, 220 East 4th Ave, Red Springs, NC 28377. Condolences to the Family may be made at www.crumplerfh.com
